VisionIT CEO David Segura was named by The Michigan Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs as their 2009 Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year during the Latinos Leading in a Global Society ceremony in Lansing, Michigan.

VisionIT’s Director of Recruiting Operations, Dan Van Slambrook, was present to accept the award on his behalf.

Segura said the following after learning he won, “I am honored to have been awarded the 2009 Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year by The Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs.  While many other organizations have had to downsize over this past year as a result of the rough economic climate facing our nation, VisionIT has continued to create jobs and invest in the State of Michigan.  I truly appreciate this recognition from our State and the Hispanic community.”

As the recipient of the entrepreneur of the year honor, Segura was also awarded a special recognition from State Representative Rashida H. Tlaib.  She is the representative for the City of Detroit’s 12th District; a community located on the southwest side of Detroit that has had continuous economic and Hispanic population growth over the past decade.
