About VisionIT • Community Involvement

VisionITs major community goal is to increase the number of Women, African-American, Hispanic, and Native-American individuals in the field of Information Technology through internships, scholarships, and job opportunities.

VisionIT was born from community activities. Prior to the start of VisionIT, David H. Segura began to volunteer his time on a weekly basis, teaching youth in Detroit about the field of technology and the growing trends of the Internet. This drive of being active in the community has continued and as VisionIT has grown, so has the impact we have been able to make within the communities where we live and work. VisionIT is fully committed to young men and women from diverse communities to assist them in choosing and building their careers in the field of Information Technology.

A number of programs and initiatives our VisionIT leadership and operational teams are fully engaged in and sponsor include:

Wayne State University BizTech Summer Camp
Since 2001, in cooperation with Wayne State University's School of Business Administration and Detroit Public Schools, VisionIT is a founding sponsor of the BizTech Summer Camp. The BizTech Camp is for Detroit high school students to participate in a 10-week educational program. The classes focus on technical, business and social skill development, with a particular emphasis on technology. In addition, each student participates in a paid internship at local Detroit companies and organizations, including VisionIT. Top graduates receive a new computer. Since its inception over 261 students have completed the annual program with 100% high school graduation rate and more than 75% have enrolled in post secondary and major universities.
